Utah Faith Leaders Urge Support for Prop 3

SALT LAKE– On Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018 a group of Faith Leaders will gather at the Catholic Diocese to express their support for Proposition 3 to expand Medicaid in Utah. Proposition 3 will bring healthcare coverage and dignity to 150,000 uninsured Utahns. These are individuals earning less than $17,000 per year, or parents earning less than $34,000 per year for a family of four.

Proposition 3 is a just healthcare policy which promotes treatment for all and brings economic and social benefits to all. Proposition 3 raises the sales tax on non-grocery items in Utah by 0.15 percent—equivalent to the cost of a cent on a movie ticket—to bring life-saving medical care to tens of thousands of Utahns, some for the very first time. Utah’s Faith Leaders see this as a moral decision, and an opportunity to reaffirm our state’s commitment to protecting human life.

Speakers will include:
•The Rt. Rev. Scott B. Hayashi, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Utah
•The Most Rev. Oscar A. Solis, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City
•Rev. Vinnetta Golphin-Wilkerson, representing the Disciples of Christ
•Eric Biggart, Chair-LDS Caucus of the Utah Democratic Party
•Rev. Kimal James, First United Methodist Church, Marriott-Slaterville

•Rev. Jodi Bushdiecker, Bountiful Community Church (United Church of Christ)
